Engineering Technician

Summary:
The Engineering Technician is a critical role on the GGS team working as a liaison with both Engineering and Production. This opening will report to engineering but majority of time on the production floor. Primary focus is to ensure operational excellence with truck set up after final assembly, problem-solving of any issues and ensuring the truck is ready for QC final inspection. This role is hands-on with majority of time spent outdoors and not at a desk or computer. We seek Kansas City based candidates of excellence.
Business Impact:
- Ensure all vehicles are set up for operation; ensure quality deliverables and standards are achieved through testing, programming, troubleshooting and general set up of new units (GSE aircraft deicers and cabin/catering service vehicles).
- Identify trends, resolve discrepancies by using standard procedures and working with engineering team to provide resolution.
- Provide recommendations and day to day guidance on new and existing processes, policies and procedures.
- Ensure all database information and reporting is both timely and accurate.
- Identify and report safety issues to proper channels.
- Provide critical support to operational excellence and customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Perform testing of vehicles as part of the QC operational inspection.
- Troubleshoot problems to include analyzing and repairing any issues.
- Work from schematics and engineering diagrams to perform testing.
- Help remedy malfunctions in collaboration with Engineering and Production.
- Testing at final assembly and address any vehicle issues in a timely, accurate and safe manner.
- Install and/or repair tubing or piping.
- Install and calibrate measuring and positioning devices.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repair.
- Products include, but are not limited to, valves, pumps, actuators, mixers, gearboxes, level gauges, drive motors, impellers, PLC’s, CAN bus, displays, sensors, and engines.
- Complete all applicable documentation for actions taken.
- Keep records of repairs and developments.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associates Degree/Technical Degree preferred.
- 2-4+ year’s previous experience (installing, maintaining, and repairing) Process/Flow Control equipment including valves, actuators, pumps, and associated instrumentation strongly desired.
- Strong mechanical proficiency required, namely the ability to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, machining instruments.
- Knowledge of hydraulics & electronics highly preferred. Knowledge of pneumatics also a plus.
- Requires high level of proficiency in applying complex engineering methods, as well as tasks and testing techniques related to operational processes.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills - can effectively and respectfully communicate within every level at a company.
- Effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills (can gather and analyze data and information and draw conclusions).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for long periods of time.
- Duties performed indoors & outdoors with exposure to weather, elements, operating heavy equipment, and power tools.
