We are Global Ground Support locally based (Olathe) with international impact in the aviation industry. We manufacture state of the art truck mounted equipment (deicers & scissor trucks) for the major commercial airlines and the military. Our mission is operational excellence to ensure the safety of the transport and travelers our clients serve.
Our company seeks a high impact player, must be based in Olathe, KS who will add immediate and long-term value to our Field Service Team, customers and organization during a critical growth cycle. An individual with subject matter expertise with ground support equipment is highly preferred.
We have many Veterans from the Armed Forces and strongly encourage applicants with mechanical abilities working on any type of large vehicle, aircraft, etc.
POSITION SUMMARY
The GSE Field Service Technician diagnoses systems issues and performs repairs on ground support equipment (GSE aircraft deicers and cabin/catering service vehicles). This role will improve customer loyalty/satisfaction/retention for GGS and provide valuable marketplace intelligence and ideas to GGS leadership team. This individual will be required to travel extensively from August to March both domestically and internationally to client sites. Majority of clients are US & Canada. This job entails working outside. Employee must have own set of tools. From April to July, the techs will assist in set and test.
BUSINESS IMPACT
- Build positive relationships with customers through understanding their requirements as well as making appropriate recommendations
- Manage all on site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks as well as documentation for all activities related to our deicers, scissor trucks and other GSE manufactured by GGS.
- Advise and train customer personnel on the operation, diagnosis, repair & preventative maintenance requirements
- Monitor maintenance trends and analyze equipment requirements
- Analyze, diagnose, and repair equipment using conventional and digital testing equipment, hand tools, and use of computer
- Report concerns in an accurate and timely manner to management for future product improvements
- Analyze and solve problems by using drawings, diagrams and schematics, technical publications, and other sources.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum three years’ related and verifiable maintenance experience on automotive airline ground support equipment highly preferred.
- High school diploma required. Excellent mechanical/diagnostic ability. Technical certification is valued.
- Strong understanding of 12VDC electrical systems and Mobile Hydraulic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.
- Familiarity with mobile tools and applications; Hand tools. Must have own set of tools, but specialty tools may be supplied by employer.
- Pass all required government, airport background and security checks and obtain a US passport. Valid drivers license and drug screen required.
- Lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
- General computer knowledge.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- This job operates within manufacturing and airport (tarmac) environments, mostly outside, where noise, heavy equipment and extreme weather conditions will likely be involved.
- While performing this job, the employee must be able utilize tools required for the assignment.
- Extensive domestic and overseas travel is necessary August through March
- Must be available for both scheduled and unscheduled travel.
