Public Works and Utilities Director
Westminster is seeking a creative executive with a passion for innovation and excellent communication and relationship building skills to lead the Public Works and Utilities Department into this exciting new chapter of growth and development as their new Public Works and Utilities Director.
Centrally located between Denver and Boulder on the US 36 high-tech corridor is Westminster, Colorado. The Public Works Department maintains and enhances the safety and well-being of the community by overseeing the City’s water and wastewater services, civil and utilities engineering and project management, facilities and fleet services, and extensive transportation infrastructure network.

The Public Works and Utilities Director is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team translating the City’s strategic plan into action through the management of key infrastructure and resources vital to the safety and well-being of the entire community. Reporting directly to the Deputy City Manager, the Public Works and Utilities Director is responsible for establishing policies, planning and executing long-term programs, and making executive-level decisions that reflect the city’s values, vision and goals.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with major coursework in Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Business, Public Works and Utilities Management, or a related field. Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of senior management and administrative experience overseeing public works and utilities operations in a public sector or military setting, or a combination of executive-level experience in both the public and private sector.
Priority review will be given to those candidates with a master’s degree in a related field.
The City of Westminster is offering a salary range of $182,756 to $228,437 for this position, depending on experience and qualifications
