Branch Manager

Position Summary:
Responsible for ensuring that the branch is adhering to the Bank’s retail service level standards. Actively seeks to meet and exceed Bank and branch goals and expectations in relation to branch financial goals, customer retention, and increasing the number of services per customer household through establishing and delegating branch goals, business development efforts, team building and coaching subordinates. The Manager is responsible for the overall function, security and staffing of a retail branch. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in conformance with the Bank’s policies, procedures and all banking regulations.
Work Environment: Travel may be required to other locations and employees must be able to work flexible schedules to meet the needs of the Bank.
Level and salary dependent on experience.
Responsibilities:
- As an ambassador of the Bank; stands, greets and by actively listening engages customers to promote and cross-sell the bank’s products and services.
- Following prescribed underwriting and lending authority and must be NMLS certified. Authorizes and closes collateral loans and reserve credit accounts.
- Maintains proficiency in the core banking applications and account opening procedures to ensure customer identification and other pertinent information is collected at time of account opening.
- Maintains proficiency in product knowledge in order to assist customers with selecting the appropriate product type to meet the customer's needs including providing qualified referrals to product specialist (i.e. investment services, lending, commercial lending)
- Responds to customers to resolve account problems in a timely manner, as well as assist with general banking information both verbally and through written correspondence.
- Maintains contact with regular and premier customers and businesses, community, and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business.
- Assigns general tasks and delegates responsibilities to subordinates to meet retail sales goals and objectives within established bank policies as well as other administrative duties.
- Evaluates staff's performance and coordinates individual development plans for staff; recommending personnel actions including training, hiring, promotion, disciplinary or termination.
- Conducts staff meetings to promote a well-informed team in all Bank matters including training, branch performance, policy, procedural, security, technology or regulatory changes.
- Conducts periodic meetings with individual staff member.
- Coaches staff on product knowledge and goal attainment for sales, referrals and customer service issues.
- Actively participates in the Bank’s community commitment initiative to promote customer and community awareness of the bank. Contacts customers and business, community, and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business.
- Compiles and reports financial data as required by organization and government regulations; ensuring proper maintenance and retention of records.
- Responsible for oversight and audit of: vault, cash ordering, teller cash levels, and all work.
- Ensures that proper office security procedures are followed; all monitoring devices (cameras, dye packs, alarms, bait money, etc.) are functioning and staff is properly trained in security procedures. First responder to calls for the bank’s security surveillance provider and may occasionally respond physically depending on the nature of security distress (fire alarm etc.).
- Ensures that branch maintenance and custodial services are performed and notifies appropriate personnel for services as needed.
- Oversees the daily review of customer overdrafts and is responsible for assessing risk on all financial transactions.

Number of employees supervised: Employees may vary per branch.
Title(s) of employees supervised: Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Supervisors, Personal Bankers, Teller Supervisor, Senior Tellers and Tellers.
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or some college and at least five years of progressively responsible banking experience in a retail setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
