Logistics, Inventory and Supply Specialist

Ocean Shipholdings, Inc. manages ships operating worldwide for the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command and employs civilian mariners (non-military) to crew these vessels in accordance with Seafarers International Union (SIU) contracts. Crew members receive paid time off with full benefits for every day spent on the ship and work approximately 8 months of the year while receiving approximately 4 months of paid time off in accordance with union contracts.
Primary function: Maintain the vessel Navy Supply System requirements and Inventory Scope of duties: Responsible for the initialization of requisitions for repair parts as directed by the Chief Engineer, requisitions of safety related items as directed by Chief Mate, and requisitions of provisions and consumables as directed by the Master. When assigned, Vessel Property Administrator, maintaining onboard property records. The Storekeeper shall have primary responsibility for all Supply, Logistics and Property Management functions onboard ship, as identified in all sections of this contract. At a minimum, the Storekeeper must be able to perform the following logistics functions: issuing material, requisitioning, receiving, stowing, physical inventorying of all property, maintaining all official property records, transportation/shipment of government material, inventory management, and configuration management. The Storekeeper must be capable of operating SHIPCLIP, the government-provided automated supply/logistics software. The Government will provide training in this system as required.
The Storekeeper shall have primary responsibility for all supply logistics and property
management functions on board ship. The Storekeeper must be able to perform the
following functions;(1) Issuing material
(2) Requisitioning
(3) Receiving, stowing and physical inventorying of property,
(4) Maintaining all official property records
(5) Transportation/shipment of government materials
( 6) Inventory managementThe Storekeeper must be capable of operating the government provided
automated supply/logistics software. Training in the SM system will be
provided as required by the MSC Contract.U.S. Navy Veterans with experience in service as MOC 2813- Independent Duty Ashore Logistics Specialist, MOC 2814-Snap II Supply and Financial Management, MOC 2815- Independent Duty Afloat Storekeeper, and MOC 2820- Snap II Supply and Financial Management would be well-qualified to fill these positions.
