Business Development/Contracts Manager (Military)

Overview

The Business Development/Contracts Manager cultivates and maintains contacts with key Government, and Military customers to generate repeat and incremental sales of Satcom Hardware and Airtime solutions to U.S. and allied countries. Position reports to the EVP, Mobile Connectivity Sales.  Onsite - Middletown, RI

Responsibilities

  • Takes a leadership role in broad business development activities for growing the KVH Govt/Military (including U.S. Coast Guard) Satcom business, long-term, both in the U.S.
  • Takes a leadership role in the development and execution of the KVH Govt/Military Satcom pipeline and large contract capture plans
  • Identifies and develops customers for the KVH Ku-band Satcom solutions
  • Compiles and tracks prospective customers for use as sales leads. Follows-up and coordinates lead development with other sales managers and internal resources to achieve
  • Interfaces with customer’s technical staff to shape requirements definition towards KVH, and provide the best product fit for their
  • Creates and maintains a detailed Govt/Military rolling 12-month and long-term sales
  • Prepares quotations including prices, delivery schedules, and payment
  • Leads proposal development efforts in response to RFQ’s
  • Participates in business development and sales efforts at Govt/Military trade
  • Participates as the lead sales representative in field technical demonstrations and
  • Helps shape Govt/Military requirements with Govt/Military Program Managers
  • Identifies KVH new product development requirements, based upon current and future Govt/Military
  • Travels as necessary, approximately 30% of time, to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders. Both domestic and international travel required
  • Coordinates with customers, Export Compliance, and legal staff regarding required export licensing for international

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree, MBA a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and customer handling
  • Govt/Military service, or Govt/Military sales experience highly
  • Technical knowledge of satellite communications systems used in Govt/Military platforms and applications
  • Govt/Military Acquisition experience desired: understanding the Govt/Military purchasing process, development of technical and operational requirements, and innovative pricing strategies
  • Experience in business development, proposal writing (response to RFQ’s), Govt/Military contract management, and management of military hardware or high technology
  • Strong presentation, communication, listening, and organizational
  • Key account management and negotiation
  • Fluent in at least two languages a plus, ability to operate independently, and able to deal with diverse international customer
  • US Citizenship or US Permanent residency required
