Maintenance Technician

Girl Scouts San Diego has an immediate need for two (2) Maintenance Technician’s to join our Property Team!

The Maintenance Technicians perform a variety of regular and preventative maintenance and repair work to support the proper function and appearance of council properties, buildings, facilities and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities (This list may not include all the duties assigned)

  • Complete assigned maintenance and repairs requests
  • Perform carpentry, plumbing, grounds keeping, electrical and painting assignments
  • Perform custodial duties in relation to cleaning of structures, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, window washing, trash removal, re-stocking paper goods, etc.
  • Inspect and complete minor vehicle and equipment repairs
  • Assist with moving furniture, supplies, equipment throughout council property; may also transport to other council locations
  • Operate heavy maintenance equipment when required
  • Transport supplies, materials, etc. to other office/building locations including event locations.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year work experience in general maintenance
  • Working knowledge of hand power tools, drills, skill saws, sanders, landscaping equipment, etc.
  • Must have competency in skills related to the field of cleaning, proper usage of cleaning products, equipment, dating, and log keeping
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft office suite and internet research
  • Able to work with minimal direction
  • Practical knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial/custodial care
  • Must have attention to detail, have the ability to meet deadlines and function under pressure
  • Able to work harmoniously with others and be flexible regarding work schedules and assignments
  • Valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required
  • Must have belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law, and aware of the needs of girls in our pluralistic society
