The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the management and operation of the campus maintenance and minor construction activities performed by the Zone Maintenance staff in all campus buildings. The Director is responsible for four building maintenance foremen. Total staff responsibility is approximately 45 individuals.
Directs the preventative/corrective maintenance and minor construction activites for the campus buildingse as performed by the Zone Maintenance Staff.
Identifies and implements opportunities to improve customer service and the campus maintenance operations.
Participates in the maintenance oncall rotation, provides support for special campus events (Commencement etc.), and responds to campus emergencies as needed.
Ensures staff are properly trained and have maintained the necessary certifications to perform the essential functions of their positions.
Provides direction to zone maintenance staff on how to solve system and equipment problems.
Sets maintenance and repair priorities for all campus buildings and utility systems.
Directs the maintenance of the campus electrical utility and stormwater/sewer infrastructure.
Interfaces with other facilities, planning and environmental safety staff on such items as design reviews, construction projects, safety and operational issues.
Manages service contracts such as water treatment, electrical distribution and elevator maintenance.
Must have a valid drivers license
Bachelor of Science Degree
Seven years of progressively responsible facilities and management experience. Experience in maintenance of buildings and energy management. Knowledge of DEP, EPA, OSHA, UCC rules and regulations. Experience working with diverse populations. Successful performance in an on-campus interview.
Preference will be given to candidates who have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, a Master’s Degree, experience with utility distribution systems, working in unionized environments, building automation systems and familiarity with zone maintenance.
