Our staff members serve public agencies in various capacities, including City Engineer, City Traffic Engineer, Building Official, Planner, Project Manager, and Inspector. Our staff members have a broad knowledge of municipal government operations, including preparation and presentation of staff reports/resolutions to city councils, committees and interaction with public, various city departments, city council and other governmental agencies.
Overview
Transtech Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Building and Safety Plan Checker to join our team! The qualified candidate will be working under direct supervision of the Building Official and will be responsible for plan review. The candidate will perform professional and technical work that involves checking and reviewing of plans, specifications for residential, commercial, and industrial building projects for compliance with codes, ordinances and other applicable regulations. Other responsibilities include providing information and assistance to the public counter, in meeting and over the telephone to the general public.
Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate plans for commercial, industrial, and/or residential projects to establish conformance to Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical codes pertinent to City, State, and County health codes, laws and regulations
- Prepare plan check reports to ensure that requisite corrections are met
- Suggest corrections or defects to meet requirements of all applicable codes
- Answer questions and advise public concerning codes and plan check reports
- Prepare written plan review correspondence and update information into computer programs
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements
- ICC (International Code Council) Plans Examiner Certification
- 2+ years Plan Check Experience
- Education: Associate degree in engineering or architecture or building inspection technology degree is a plus
- Knowledge of Building Codes
- Experience in processing building construction plans
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Municipal Experience highly desirable
- Valid CA Driver License, Class “C”
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Working Conditions
Chino, CA and moderate travel within the Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange and Riverside County.
