The Position:
We are seeking a forward thinking, dynamic, and collaborative leader to direct, manage, and inspire the programming team at the College. The Software Services Manager heads a dynamic team that serves students, employees, and the local community by providing ERP and software services.
- The selected candidate shall demonstrate leadership and initiative in a 21st community college IT environment.
- The Software Services manager will work closely with the CIO and with the Infrastructure Manager to provide unified IT services for the college.
Services and Functions of the Software Services Group:
The Software Services group provides innovative software solutions to streamline and modernize operations as well as supporting the ERP operations on a community college campus that serves a diverse body of 19,900 students, 658 faculty, and 402 staff. The Software Services Group supports the Ellucian Banner ERP system, several Evisions products, Tableau, Ellucian Degreeworks, Luminis, and BDMS, SARs products, and a host of auxiliary systems. The software services group works closely with functional users of the ERP, reporting, and auxiliary systems throughout the college.
Salary/Wage Range:
Starting Salary Range $70,393 - $89,175 Annual (Management Salary Band 4, Range A)

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Information Systems, business, or similar discipline.
Required Experience:
A Total of Three (3) or more years of experience simultaneously in all of the below:
Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Three (3) years experience with higher education enterprise resource planning systems.
Three (3) years Project Management experience.
Two (2) of technical experience including software development, testing, and system integration.
Two (2) of demonstrated problem solving and writing skills required.
Essential Functions:
Manage the programmers, DBA, banner and web systems administrators.
Works closely with the Team in support of daily task prioritization, scheduling, interdepartmental coordination and managerial aspects of the team. Provide technical support as needed.
Assist the CIO with day-to-day management of technology services for the college, including but not limited to process improvement, identifying needed resources, and recommending/prioritizing the deployment of existing resources in support of the college’s mission.
Work with the CIO to make recommendations covering the electronic data and information security of the college.
Works closely with the CIO to review and make recommendations regarding new technology opportunities for the college.
Make recommendations to the CIO on the preparation, implementation, update and revision of enterprise technology related policies, procedures and processes
Assist IT System teams in defining requirements, project scope, and to design operational processes and procedures for systems interoperability projects, particularly spanning multiple IT groups.
Support IT teams to deliver daily or short-term IT projects on schedule and within budget, while controlling changes and minimizing risk.
Work with all IT teams to build skills and develop cross-training opportunities.
In the CIO’s absence, the Software Services Manager will be responsible for management of the Project Management, business analyst, training and liaison areas.
Co-Manage the relationship with key IT vendors such as Ellucian, Collegenet, Oracle, Evisions, etc.
Promote and facilitate the integration of Lane’s Core Learning Outcomes Core Learning Outcomes (CLOs) into curricula and the assessment of student learning at the course, program, and college levels.
Assure the implementation of the College’s Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunities concerning policies, goals, and timetables in assigned areas. Ensure staff development on diversity, inclusive climate and respectful learning and working environment issues.
Ensure the college engages in an effective system of evaluation and assessment of its programs and services, wherever offered and however delivered.
Conduct an effective, regular, and comprehensive assessment of student achievement at the college wide level to evaluate clearly identified program goals or intended outcomes for student recruitment and retention strategies.
Ensure department direct reports are participating in student assessment and meeting accreditation standards.
Other duties as assigned.

Strong interpersonal, communication and public presentation skills.
Must be able to communicate technical concepts effectively in individual and group settings, to technical and non-technical audiences, representing the College on a professional basis, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter.
Ability to work well in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
Ability to make fast, decisive decisions concerning Lane’s computer systems operations in unusual situations.
Must be able to critically analyze workflow processes, recommend and oversee appropriate changes.
Possess good organizational skills.
Needs to possess the ability to remain focused on a task(s) during numerous interruptions.
Must be proficient with computer technologies; understand hardware, software, databases; Microsoft Office and its applications; GSuite; software programming concepts and languages; and IT networking concepts.
Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.
Provide support to employees working to meet accreditation standards through evaluation and assessment of student outcomes.
