Responsible for cleaning the inside of buildings and other facilities and performing minor maintenance in a manner that is safe and supports learning at the college.
Essential Functions:
Sweeps and mops floors using hand or power equipment; empties trash containers; strips and refinishes floors; washes walls and mirrors; washes windows (inside and outside) using the Unger system; dusts; cleans whiteboards, drinking fountains, counters and lights; cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies.
Vacuums, spot cleans, shampoos and extracts carpets.
Knowledge of safe handling, mixing and application of cleaning chemicals.
Comply with college and division policies and procedures.
Adhere to all OSHA standards.
Actively participate in team meetings and activities
Maintain positive verbal and written communication with employees and department staff. Honor and promote the college Mission, Vision and Values.
Work independently and collaborate as part of team to ensure high-quality custodial work.
Maintain appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Operation of floor, carpet, wall and office cleaning equipment and tools.
Mixing and applying custodial chemicals safely.
Cleaning methods and procedures.
OSHA regulations as they relate to cleaning and sanitation measures.
Ability to:
Read, understand and apply oral and written instructions and labels.
Operate power custodial equipment safely.
Complete assigned duties on schedule and to work well with others or independently.
Work well under pressure.
Organize and prioritize work.
Work with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Ability to climb stairs and ladders; reach overhead for extended periods.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment operated.
Safely lift and carry furniture, equipment and bags weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
Physical strength and agility are required to operate cleaning, waxing and other equipment, to safely lift and carry furniture, cleaning equipment and bags of trash, and to repeatedly bend, stoop and twist.
Working conditions include standing and/or walking for long periods of time and potential exposure to body fluids.
Positions may require the ability to work irregular hours or to rotate shifts.
Work with hazardous chemicals, may be exposed to odors, stand for more than an hour per day.
Required Education:
High school graduation or equivalent.
A current Oregon driver's license.
Required Experience:
Six (6) months of experience performing the full range of custodial duties including the operation of hand and power equipment and the safe and proper mixing and applying of cleaning chemicals is strongly preferred.
Equivalency to required experience:
Equivalent combination of training and experience in cleaning, sanitation or work related to janitorial or custodial services will be considered.
Salary/Compensation:Lane’s robust

Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $24,347 – $35,705.New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this.Classification with the same or greater number of years relevant experience.
