This position provides coverage on Swing Shift; (Monday - Friday from 2:30 to 11:00 pm). Although this position works the traditional swing shift work hours, they may be required to work an early morning, mid or swing swift in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide automotive labor support in accordance with District safety guidelines and policies and procedures. Work is performed under general supervision and may be required to perform duties as directed by the Fleet Regional Technician or the Fleet Shop Foreman.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- EF 35% Lube, oil and filter change on all PUD vehicles and equipment.
- EF 15% Fueling and check lubrication on the district vehicles and equipment.
- EF 10% Perform repairs and maintenance on small engines and miscellaneous small tools and equipment.
- EF 10% Clean and fuel the District's motor pool vehicles.
- EF 5% Service and change batteries, including checking charging system and jump starting of vehicle if necessary
- EF 5% Change and repair tires using equipment such as tire changer and wheel balancing equipment.
- EF 5% Perform light-duty electrical and wiring repairs, such as lights and repair of wiring of 12 volt systems.
- EF 5% Perform brake repair on light-duty vehicles. This includes turning of rotors and drums, packing of wheel bearings and adjusting of brakes on all vehicles.
- EF 5% Assist other mechanics when necessary.
- EF 5% Maintain the garage work area and shop trucks in a clean and orderly fashion. Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance in automotive shop area, including emptying trash containers.
- EF Ongoing Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- EF Ongoing Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Post-Secondary Education:
No post-secondary education required.
Experience:
Typically requires two (2) years diversified automotive, truck or equipment mechanic experience, or the equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Completion of specialized technical training in automotive and/or truck repair is desired.
