Job Summary:

This role is responsible for leading daily operations, including preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, project and job costing, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, and related duties. This role is expected to establish and scale the company's accounting operations.

The day-to-day:

  • Drive and manage the full accounting team’s performance of the close process to meet close deadlines.
  • Oversees staff to ensure successful operation of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
  • Prepares income statement and balance sheets for management in accordance with GAAP.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and accounting management to deliver relevant and timely reporting of financial data analytics.
  • Prepare various technical accounting analyses, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee Cost Accountant analysis of project, job, and manufacturing cost accounting.
  • Manages company Travel & Expense and credit card programs.
  • Reviews preparation of bank reconciliations and related journal entries by staff accountant for all US and foreign bank accounts.
  • Oversees daily billing processes and related reporting.
  • Prepares all financial statements and related schedules including all year-end adjustments for successful completion of annual audit.
  • Prepares information as required for corporate tax return filing.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly commission schedules.
  • Manages all banking relationships.
  • Prepares financial reporting as required by banks.
  • Prepares ongoing reports and special reporting as required by management.
  • Works with MIS department on company reporting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Directly supervises 5 employees within the Accounting department.
  • Indirectly supervises 6 employees within the Accounting
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

  • CPA certification required.
  • 6-10 years of Controller or related experience
  • Minimum 4 years of management experience of teams of 10 or more
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Accounting Software (QuickBooks); Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); Presentation software (PowerPoint); Microsoft Office Suite and Syspro ERP.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university is required.
