Regenstrief Institute, Inc. is seeking a Program Manager to help further the mission of the Global Health Informatics (GHI) program. For the past five years, Indiana University and the Regenstrief Institute have fostered the beginnings of one of the first and most influential global health informatics R&D programs in the world. This group is seeking to rapidly scale it’s worldwide impact, and is eager to find a highly motivated, mission-driven operationally experienced professional.

Are you someone who wants to wake up every day working alongside a group of individuals obsessed with improving worldwide health equity? The mission of the GHI group is to achieve health equity for resource constrained communities through health information technologies. The Global Health Informatics Program Manager is responsible for helping to further develop and oversee the day to day operations of the Program. This includes overseeing a program-wide operational strategy, developing and executing a financial management strategy, overseeing the funding proposal process, developing and implementing policies and procedures, identifying and cultivating new projects that align with our vision, and general operational support (i.e., supervision of other staff positions servicing the program). It might also include occasional project management responsibility for specific projects within the program.

We want to hire a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience scaling projects and teams, leading and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse and talented individuals. We want to hire a “people person”, someone with high resolve and character who is hungry to learn new things and help high achievers become even more effective.

This job requires a bachelor’s degree, though an advanced degree is preferred. The job also requires five years of global or public health-related experience, and five years of project management experience in large integrated programs. You will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Program, including financial management strategy, supporting the funding and proposal process, contributing to our strategic goals. As a non-profit, we are funded primarily by external grants and contracts, so experience managing the end-to-end process from proposal to successfully completion is preferred. Experience managing software development or healthcare-related knowledge products is also preferred.

We use a combination of internally-developed tools, common office software, and other web applications like BaseCamp, Slack, SmartSheets, and Atlassian’s Confluence to be productive. Learning, applying, and fine-tuning workflows with new software applications should be something you thrive on because as global team we are always looking for new ways to work more effectively together online. A competitive applicant will be comfortable sorting through ambiguity and will have a high sensitivity to working with people from different cultures and walks of life.

In short, we want a passionate, mission driven professional that will help foster and coordinate the efforts of a group of highly motivated and creative individuals.

A successful candidate will:

  • Have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings.
  • Develop, identify, implement, and oversee efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the Program.
  • At the same time, help the team retain the innovative spark and high-quality content development that drive Regenstrief’s unique approach to Global Health Informatics.

Here are some of the functions you’ll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and organizing the work of the Program team.
  • Serving as a project manager for Global Health Informatics projects, as appropriate.
  • Ensuring that the Program is adhering to its committed deliverables and long-term plan.
  • Providing analytical support to the Program Director, including development of internal management reporting capabilities and monitoring key business metrics.
  • Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Directly managing and developing other program staff, and assuming indirect supervisory responsibilities for all Program personnel who are not direct reports.
  • Identifying new opportunities
  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing annual operational plan.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing an annual budget process.
  • Contributing to development of new lines of business, helping to advance projects from concept to full production operation.
  • Prepares and presents progress reports to clients, granting agencies, or other persons.
  • Coordinating and assembling funding proposals based on requirements and submitting proposals to funding agencies.
  • Serve as liaison and a primary source of information regarding the Program and the status of its projects.
